Director Habibur Rahman’s new feature film ‘Alatchakra’ will hit the theatres on March 19.
Teaser of the national grant-winning film, starring Jaya Ahsan, was released on March 2. Ahmed Reza Rubel as Daniel is starring oppsite Jaya Ahsan as Tayeba. Actors Azad Abul Kalam, Mahtab Hossain among others are playing supporting roles.
Alatchakra, produced by Rahima Begum, is the first 3D Bangla film – set to be released in the month of March, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the independence of Bangladesh. The film is inspired by Ahmed Sofa’s Liberation War-themed book of the same name, which was released in 1985.
The novel revolved around Daniel, a refugee of the Liberation War, and Tayeba, a cancer patient. Sofa explores the ups and downs of their unique relationship, moral corruption of the politicians cooped up in Kolkata and the perspectives of different communities with regard to the 1971 war.
