BTRC introduces DND service

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Saturday launched ‘Do Not Disturb’ service to curb promotional messages on mobile phones.

The telecom regulator said in a statement that although such messages are meant for awareness purposes, it can cause annoyance among mobile phone users.

Thus, the service has been launched to further improve customer service quality, the BTRC said.

Anyone unwilling to receive promotional SMSs on his/her mobile can dial the following short code and activate the Do Not Disturb service.

To activate it, Grameenphone users have to dial *121*1101#, Banglalink users *121*8*6# and for Robi and Airtel it is *7#, according to the statement
