Prime Minister receives banana plant fibre made sharees

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday 17 July receives “Kalabati Sharee” and handicrafts made from the banana plant fibre.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bandarban district Yasmin Parveen Tibriji handed over three sharees and two jewellery boxes made from the banana plant fibre to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasian at the Cabinet Room of her office.  A press release issued from the Prime Minister’s Press Wing informed.

The press release added that for the first time in the country’s history, Tant designer Radhabati Devi of Moulavibazar district prepared this Manipuri design sharee from the fibre of the banana tree. And Anjali Devi and Dutta Singh made the three sharees gifted to the Prime Minister.

In addition, a model of special “machang house” of residential shelter in the hilly areas, district brand calendar and brand book were also presented to the Prime Minister by the DC of Bandarban hill district.
