The United Nations lauded Hasina’s leadership

The United Nations has lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the development and progress of Bangladesh.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) has given her the ‘SDG Progress Award’ in response to a universal call for action to eradicate poverty, protect the world and ensure peace and prosperity for all. Also got the title of ‘Crown Gem’.

rime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday attended the Virtual Ninth Annual International Conference in New York, USA on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) announced by the United Nations by 2030.

The Prime Minister was lauded at the conference by Jeffrey Sachs, President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and a prominent US development economist.

He said that from 2015 to 2020, Bangladesh has in most cases progressed from the least developed country (LDC) of Bangladesh to a developing country.

The United Nations Committee on Economic and Social Development Policy (CDP) on March 15, 2016, officially announced Bangladesh’s eligibility for transition from the LDCs.

In order to move from the LDC category, per capita income, human resources and economic fragility are the conditions for achieving any two of these three indicators, but Bangladesh has improved to the criteria of the three indicators.
