Trains to run with full sitting capacity from Feb 9

The Bangladesh Railway Authority on Monday informed that the train will be running at full capacity across the country from Wednesday (February 9) in compliance with the health rules.

“A gazette notification has been issued from the Director General’s office in this regard,” confirmed by Additional Director General (Operation) of Bangladesh Railway SarderShahadat Hossain.

He said the train would run with strict observance of hygiene rules. Strict measures will be taken to maintain social distance in trains and railway stations. Passengers will follow all hygiene rules including wearing musk. Advance tickets for half of the seats have already been sold out, the rest will now be available over the counter and online.

The infection of corona omicron variant is now lower…inoculation programme has also been enforced, he said, adding so, decision has been taken to carry passengers on train by filling full sitting capacity.

But issuance of standing tickets of the intercity train and platform ticket at the station will remain fully stopped.  Meal and bedding will be supplied to the passengers during night at the intercity passenger train by enforcing strict corona health guidelines, according to the gazette notification.

From January 15, 2022, the railway has been imposed travel restrictions by keeping fifty percent seat vacant amid rising infection of corona omicron variant across the country.
