MP Ekramul removed from party position, final expulsion recommended

The Noakhali district Awami League has recommended to the central president for final expulsion of Noakhali-4 MP Mohammad Ekramul Karim Chowdhury from the Awami League.

Ekramul was relieved of his post as a member of the convening committee of the Noakhali district Awami League on Saturday (January 29) afternoon. This time a recommendation has been sent to the Center for final expulsion from the Awami League.

Advocate Shihab Uddin Shahin, joint convener of Noakhali district Awami League, told the media that MP Ekramul was relieved of his post following a decision at a special emergency meeting of the district Awami League convening committee. Because he has proved his position against the party candidate by praying for votes against Naukar and money in UP elections of Kabirhat and Subarnachar including Noakhali municipality.

He further said that in today’s meeting, the district committee has sent a recommendation to the Center for his removal from the convening committee of the district Awami League and expulsion from the general membership for life.

Shihab Uddin Shahin said 80 per cent members of the committee headed by district Awami League convener Khairul Anam Chowdhury Selim were present at the meeting.

MP Ekramul Karim Chowdhury was called several times to know about the expulsion recommendation but two mobile phones used by him were found switched off.

It is learned that on January 26, MP Ekram Chowdhury publicly spoke to Awami League rebel candidate Saifullah Khasru to vote for the pineapple symbol in Charjubali union of Subarnachar upazila. An audio of his speech has also gone viral through social media.
