3G and 4G internet services suspended across the country

High-speed 3G and 4G internet services are down across the country.

Cellphone users are largely unable to use the internet through mobile data as mobile internet speeds in the country have been awfully slow since Friday morning. However, the 2G service is still in operation.

Two days ago, high-speed internet service on mobile phones was shut down in six districts since Wednesday following attacks and vandalism of puja mandaps and temples in several districts, including Cumilla.

The same steps have been taken across the country since the morning of Vijaya Dashmi on Friday, said several senior officials of mobile operators.

Contacted, mobile operators told that the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has directed them through a notice to keep the 3G and 4G mobile data services suspended across the country from Friday 5am until further direction.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said to the press that, the 3G and 4G mobile internet services have been suspended due to some technical glitches. “The services will go back to normal as soon as the issues are fixed “ he added.
