Dhaka University, a prime educational institute of the country, will observe its centenary on Thursday. Considering pandemic situation, there will be no in-person programme.
However, the authorities have a plan to hold a gala function on November 1. As a part of the symbolic programme, an online discussion will be held at 4:00pm on the day with DU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.
Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, a prominent linguist, columnist and intellectual, will join the discussion and present the keynote paper.
On the first day of July in 1921, the University of Dhaka opened its doors to students with Sir P.J. Hartog as the first Vice-Chancellor of the University.
