International standard dry fish industry to be developed in Cox’s Bazar

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today said that an international standard dry fish processing industry is being set up in Cox’s Bazar.

“We will set up an international standard dry fish industry fisheries which would be implemented by Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC),” he said, Report BSS

He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the office building of the project to set up a dry processing industry in Cox’s Bazar district, said a press release.

Referring to Cox’s Bazar as an iconic district of Bangladesh, the minister said, “Cox’s Bazar is undergoing extensive modernization under the present government”.

“All the development projects those have come up now, have never happened in the past…as long as Sheikh Hasina is in power, the development of Bangladesh will continue,” he said.

Zafar Alam MP, secretary of the ministry Muhammad Yamin Chowdhury were present, among others, with BFDC chairman Hemayet Hossain in the chair.

He also inspected various shrimp plots under the Fisheries Department at Rampur in Chakaria Upazila and gave necessary directions to the concerned to solve the related problems.
