PM’s gift mangoes to Indian leaders

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s gift of 2,600-kg mangoes in 260 cartons for her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and other leaders entered Indian territory through Benapole Land Port today.

The gift items (mangoes), a “Memento of Friendship” between the two neighbouring countries, sent to the political leaders, including the head of the central government and head of the government of West Bengal state of India.

On completion of all the customs and port formalities, a Bangladeshi truck carrying 260 cartons of mangoes crossed the border in the afternoon, Deputy Commissioner of Customs Anupam Chakma told journalists.

Md Saniul Quader, First Secretary (Political) in Kolkata, India, received 2600 kgs (260 cartons) of mangoes at Benapole No-man’s-land, reports our Benapole Correspondent.

Benapole Municipality Mayor Ashraful Alam Liton, Deputy Commissioner of Customs Anupam Chakma, Sharsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Meer Alif Reza, Deputy Director (traffic) of Benapole Port Mamun Kabir Tarafder, Port Deputy Director Abdul Jalil, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Navaron Circle) Jewel Imran and BGB officials were present on the occasion.
