ISS prosecutor Karim to visit Bangladesh

International Crimes Court Chief Prosecutor Karim Asad Ahmad Khan is likely to visit Bangladesh.

He has shown his keen interest to visit Bangladesh during a meeting with Bangladesh’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud at the International Crimes Court at The Hague in the Netherlands on Friday.

The Bangladesh flag has been hoisted at the International Crimes Court (ICC) marking the visit of Hasan, said a release on Saturday.

During the meeting, Khan, who has been appointed as the prosecutor last month for nine years, informed that they know about the support of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the work of establishing trial of ICC.

He (Khan) also recalled the strong role in signing the ‘Treaty of Rome’ for establishing the court in 1997.

Khan termed the sheltering of about 12 lakh Rohingyas in Bangladesh as generosity of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The investigation on the trial of Myanmar’s crimes on the Rohingyas issue is going on, he said.
