Mahmudullah eyes ‘lot of improvement’ after Oman win

Bangladesh registered a scrappy win over Oman here on Tuesday but skipper Mahmudullah feels his team needs to improve a lot to move ahead in the T20 World Cup.

Bangladesh defeated co-hosts Oman by 26 runs in their second match of the tournament.

The Bangladesh team, which suffered a loss against Scotland in their opening match, once again failed to perform up to their level.

At the post-match awards ceremony, Mahmudullah said, “We need to improve in many areas, but I am happy with this win. Winning is the most important thing for the country and I hope our fans will be happy.

“Shakib and Naeem batted well and took us past 150. we did a lot of wide balls,we should have done better with the new ball though and we need to fix the areas where we made mistakes,” he said.

“Our death bowling was going well and in th the middle we brought the game back. But we have to improve in batting and bowling in the first six overs” he added.

It wasn’t a convincing performance from Bangladesh but was enough to keep them in the competition after a rude shock against Scotland in their opening match.
