Govt to procure 90,000 MTs of fertilizer, 30,000 MTs of phosphoric acid

The government approved on Tuesday separate proposals for procuring some 90,000 metric tons of fertilizer and 30,000 metric tons of phosphoric acid to meet the growing demand of the country.

The approvals came from the 29th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) in this year held today virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.

According to official sources, the day’s meeting approved a total of six proposals.

Out of the approved six proposals, four were from the Ministry of Industries while one each from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works and the Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED).

The Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Ministry of Industries will procure some 30,000 metric tons of bagged granular urea fertilizer from KAFCO, Bangladesh under the 6th lot with around Taka 197.46 crore, another 30,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Muntajat, Qatar under the 6th lot with around Taka 200.55 crore.

Besides, the BCIC will procure another 30,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer from SABIC Agri-nutrients Company, Saudi Arabia under the 9th lot with around Taka 200.55 crore while the BCIC would procure some 30,000 metric tons of phosphoric acid from DAP Fertilizer Company Limited with around Taka 233.82 crore.

Following a proposal from the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) under the IMED, the meeting approved the package number AFS-02 under the project for digitizing implementation, monitoring and public procurement paving the way for appointing the joint venture of Dohatec Media Bangladesh and GSS Infotech Ltd India as consultants with around Taka 51.23 crore.

Besides, the day’s meeting approved another proposal for appointing The Engineers and Architects Ltd as the contractor for building three 14-storey residential buildings at Mohammadpur Housing Estate in the capital with around Taka 144.37 crore.
