Journalist Pir Habibur Rahman no more

Noted journalist, political analyst, columnist, and Bangladesh Pratidin’s executive editor Pir Habibur Rahman, executive editor of Bangladesh Pratidin has passed away at a city hospital today.

Bangladesh Pratidin reporter Joysree Bhadury confirmed the death of Pir Habibur Rahman .

He breathed his last around 4:08 pm while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Labaid Specialized Hospital in the capital.

Earlier, journalist Pir Habibur Rahman suffered a stroke while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Friday evening. He was later admitted to Labaid Hospital in the capital and kept in ICU.

On January 22, he was infected with coronavirus and on the advice of the doctors, he was admitted to Labaid Specialized Hospital.

Though he made recovery from COVID-19 there but was, later, admitted to BSMMU for kidney difficulties.

While receiving treatment there, he was shifted to the ICU of Labaid Specialized Hospital on Friday evening after he had suffered a stroke.

Born on February 16 in 1964 in Sunamganj district town, Peer Habibur Rahman chose the journalism profession while studying at Rajshahi University.

In his professional life, he worked with Dainik Banglabazar, Jugantor, Manabkantha, and Amader Samay. Founder of online news portal Purboposhchimbd, he last performed his duty as the executive editor of Bangladesh Pratidin.
