Nigeria-born Kingsley was named in the Bangladesh national team

The game of Bangladesh team means crying for goals. Elita Kingsley’s acquisition of Bangladeshi citizenship was a beacon of hope for Bangladesh, which had been defeated by the Strikers. That’s why when the topic of national team comes up lately, a question is inevitable – will Elita Kingsley be called up in the national team or not? The Nigeria-born striker, who played for Bashundhara Kings, has been named in the preliminary list of the national team for the first time.

Kingsley has not yet received a FIFA clearance to play international matches as a Bangladeshi citizen. However, BFF is hopeful that he will get the clearance soon. That is why Kingsley has been included in the preliminary list of the national team for the SAF Championship.

BFF general secretary Abu Naeem confirmed the matter. “Kingsley’s name is on the list of 35 people who have been sent for SAF,” he said. We have submitted his name so that we can take him if we get a FIFA clearance and if coach need him. We are hopeful of getting clearance this week. ”

Kingsley received Bangladeshi citizenship in March. Bashundhara recruited him as a local footballer in the second round of the Premier League. In the meantime, he has played 3 matches for the team. But the clearance required by FIFA and AFC to play international matches as a Bangladeshi was not available. After exchanging various letters, FIFA last asked for a report from the Bangladesh Immigration Department on Kingsley’s location and movement in Bangladesh over the past five years.

It was sent to BFF a few days ago. FIFA then pushed the ball to the AFC. BFF is hopeful that the exemption will be obtained from the highest body of Asian football.

And Kingsley has already hinted that national team coach Jamie Day is keeping an eye on him. The Bangladesh English coach said, “Kingsley has a good chance. However, it depends on getting a clearance for his game. ‘ The SAF Championship will be held in Maldives from 1 to 16 October. The Bangladesh team is scheduled to start preparations from September 20.
