Another 50 lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccines arrived in Dhaka

Another consignment of fifty lakh doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine arrived in Dhaka from China early Saturday.

After departing from Tianjin Airport in China on Friday, the consignment arrived at Dhaka’s Shahjalal Airport on a Bangladesh Biman flight at around 1:15 pm.

With this, Bangladesh has received 2 crore 49 lakh doses of vaccine from this organization. Earlier, another consignment of 54 lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccine purchased from China reached Dhaka last Friday (September 10) night.

A flight of Bangladesh Biman arrived at Shahjalal International Airport from Beijing, China at around 1:15 pm on Friday. The vaccines are then sent to the archives.

Chief Health Coordinator Dr Abu Zaher received the consignment at the airport.

The government will procure an additional 6 crore doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines from China under the Direct Procurement Method (DPM) – as per the price mentioned in the agreement – to bolster the government’s efforts to vaccinate the citizens.

Last week, Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen said the country will get 24 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines by March-April of next year.
