Vaccination of children will start within 20 days: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Malek has said that children between the ages of 12 and 18 will be vaccinated under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Children of this age can be vaccinated against Pfizer of the United States. The Pfizer vaccine will be given to these children. This activity will be started within 20 days. Other children will be vaccinated in phases.

The health minister said this at an exchange meeting held at Manikganj Municipal Building on Saturday noon. Manikganj Municipality organized this meeting on future work plan for the development of the municipality.

Health Minister Zahid Malek said about 2.5 crore people in the country have been vaccinated. Of these, 1.5 crore people have received two doses of vaccine. There are many countries in the world who have not been vaccinated that way. The government of some countries has collapsed due to non-vaccination.

The health minister said, efforts were being made to get 60 million vaccines from China. The value of this vaccine is 3 thousand crore Taka. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked for order of vaccine. Every person in the country will be vaccinated.

He added, ‘We are lucky. I have received an offer of 100 million vaccines from the World Health Organization. Its price is about 5 thousand crore Taka. At the behest of the Prime Minister, we have ordered vaccinations worth around Tk 8,500 crore in just 15 days. ‘

The meeting was chaired by Municipility Mayor Ramzan Ali and addressed by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Abdul Latif, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Golam Azad Khan, District Council Chairman and District Awami League President Golam Mohiuddin, District Diabetic Hospital General Secretary Sultanul Azam Khan, Municipality Panel Mayor Abdur Razzak, District Anti-Corruption Committee President Khabirul Alam Chowdhury and others.
