RT-PCR machine to be installed at airport in 2-3 days

Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed has said that RT-PCR machines will be installed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka in the next 2-3 days.At the same time, the minister said, it could take more than a decade to install a rapid PCR machine.

Expatriate Welfare Minister Imran Ahmed told reporters while inspecting the PCR lab at the airport on Tuesday (September 21st).

The minister said, “The RT-PCR machine will be installed in two to three days.” However, we do not have a rapid PCR machine. It must be brought from abroad. Which will take some time. Hopefully in 7 to 10 days we will be able to bring and install this machine. Those who have been allowed to install these machines have been instructed; The work has to start within a week. ‘

Health Minister Zahid Malek and Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare Ahmed Dr.Munirush Salehin were visiting the airport with the Minister.

Earlier on Saturday, Minister Imran visited the site of setting up an RT-PCR lab at the airport’s car parking yard for coronary testing of foreign workers. On the same day, the Minister said that RT-PCR activities would start in the next three to four days including setting up of labs at the airport.

The Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment has approved seven companies to set up RT-PCR labs for corona testing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

Originally, the approval was given to seven institutions proposed by the Department of Health. The directive was given in a letter signed by Sarwar Alam, senior assistant secretary of the ministry, on September 15.
