Let the vaccine be universal: Sheikh Hasina

To speed up the fight against the epidemic, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has demanded that the corona vaccine be made available to the world without leaving it in the hands of any country or company.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her speech proposed 3 points to make vaccine a universal product.

She made the remarks in an earlier statement on Wednesday (September 22nd) at the White House Global Covid-19 Summit: Ending the Pandemic and Building Back Better Health Security.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “We plan to vaccinate 20 million people every month until 80 percent of our population is vaccinated by August 2022.”

Sheikh Hasina said the Covid-19 vaccines need to be declared as ‘Global Public Good’ to ensure effective vaccination worldwide.

“To ensure universal access, developing and LDC countries must be allowed to produce vaccines locally,” she said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said local production of vaccines should be facilitated through developing and least developed countries which have the capacity to ensure universal access to vaccines.

At the beginning of his speech, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh thanked US President Biden for organizing the conference.
