Deaths in Corona have increased in 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, 17 more people have died due to corona. With this, the number of deaths due to the virus in the country increased to 27,730.

The COVID-19 caseload rose to 1,564,019 as 518 people tested positive for the disease in the 24 hours to 8 am on Wednesday, according to the latest government data.

Dhaka registered the most daily deaths and new cases among the eight divisions, logging 13 fatalities and 393 infections.

Nationwide, another 505 people recovered from the illness, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,525,673.

As many as 22,153 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 2.34 percent. The latest figures put the recovery rate at 97.54 percent and the mortality rate at 1.77 percent.

Globally, over 238.79 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 4.86 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

Among the dead were 8 men and 9 women. All of them died at the hospital. At the same time, according to departmental statistics, maximum 13 people died in Dhaka division, 1 in Chittagong division, 2 in Khulna division and 1 in Barisal.
