Sister of journalist Kanak Sarwar is in jail

Nusrat Shahrin, sister of US expatriate journalist Konak Sarwar, has been remanded in custody. The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court passed the order on Tuesday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Liaquat Ali confirmed the information in the reporter.

According to court sources, Nusrat was remanded in custody for five days in two cases and was produced before the CMM court in Dhaka on Tuesday. Police requested that she be remanded in custody. However, Nusrat’s lawyers applied for bail. After hearing both sides, the court denied Nusrat bail.

On October 4, RAB arrested Nusrat Shahrin from Uttara area of ​​the capital. Later, two separate cases were filed against him at the Uttara West Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act and the Digital Security Act.

It has been alleged by the state that the accused Nusrat Shahrin was using digital media to spread false, provocative statements about the government and important people of the government. Her brother Kanak Sarwar has been living abroad and spreading various anti-government provocative statements.

However, the court has been informed by the accused that a fake ID has been opened in the name of Nusrat Shahrin. She made a general diary at the police station on September 27. She is not involved in the incident.
