We are the world’s model in dealing with risks: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that we are the ideal country in the world to deal with risks. We will try to maintain this dignity. We don’t have to hear that not as many people were supposed to die. We think this country is ours. No matter what the risk, development work must continue.

The Prime Minister said this while addressing a function at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Wednesday (October 13) at 10:30 am. “Our geographical location is such that we have to deal with natural disasters,” she said. Therefore, besides the various agencies of the government, the general public should also be aware to avoid the risk of disaster.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said rules have to be followed while setting up buildings. In case of fire, in case of earthquake, rescue and other works can be done. Our government has taken all measures to deal with the disaster, no other government has paid attention to them. As far as the initiatives we have taken, these have been taught by the father of the nation.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief to mark the 50th anniversary of the CPP, founded by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and International Disaster Mitigation Day. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated four units of the CPP by virtually joining it. State Minister for Relief Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman presided over the function and perfomed by the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister Ahmed Kaikaus,  Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Secretary Md. Mohsin  gave a welcome speech.
