Kenya’s world record holder Agnes Tirop has been found dead in her home. The 25-year-old athlete had stab wounds to the abdomen and neck. Kenyan police are continuing an investigation to unravel the mystery of the death.
One of the suspects is her husband. The world media reported about it.
“When the police got into the house, they found Tirop in bed and there was a pool of blood on the floor,” said police officer Tom Makori. He also added that the athlete had stab wounds on his body, which he said caused her death.
Police initiated criminal proceedings for Tiropa’s death. According to the British media, one of the suspects is her husband, who is now on the run. “Her husband is still at large and preliminary investigations show us that he is a suspect because he cannot be found. The police are trying to find him so he can explain what happened to the Tirops. ” she quoted BBC station local police statement.
“We are still working to unearth more details surrounding her demise,” a statement from the governing body said. “Kenya has lost a jewel who was one of the fastest-rising athletics giants on the international stage, thanks to her eye-catching performances on the track.”
Agnes Tirop was a two-time bronze medalist at the World Athletics Championships. There were only ten days left until her 26th birthday. The Kenyan woman became famous as one of the world’s best runners, and Tiropová finished fourth at the August 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The athlete began her career in 2011, when she won two bronze medals at the World Championships in the 5000 m run. Four years later, Tirop won the World Championships in China.
