The number of classes will increase from January if covid situation remains stable: Dipu Moni

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said the government is thinking of increasing the number of classes in January when new classes would begin after completion of SSC and HSC examinations.

he said this while talking to journalists after inaugurating newly-built office of Chandpur Palli Bidyut Samity.

Dipu said now there is no scope to increase the number of classes for the sake of maintaining health guidelines and social distancing.

Besides, she said third wave of coronavirus is being noticed in some counties, so it is not possible to take any decision now.

Dipu said when the government is making its all-out strides to keep communal harmony and make development in the country, BNP-Jammat clique is making many evil acts to tarnish the image of the government ahead of the elections.

School and college students in Bangladesh returned to their classrooms on September 11 after a prolonged closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government had shut the educational institutions on March 17, 2020, after the country reported the first Covid-19 cases on March 8 and later the closure was extended several times.

The pandemic-related school closures in the country affected about 38 million students even though the government introduced TV-based learning programs for them.
