JSC, JDC exams unlikely this year
This year’s Junior School Certificate (JSC) and its equivalent Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) exams are less likely to be held this year.
“There is hardly scope for holding this year’s JSC or JDC exams for three million students, with the time we have in our hands as there are SSC and HSC exams starting from June 19 and August 22 respectively”, said Professor Tapan Kumar Sarker, chairman of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Dhaka.
He said the written and practical exams of SSC and HSC will be completed by the end of October. “So, it would be tough for us to arrange JSC and JDC examinations as the education boards will be busy with holding SSC and HSC exams and preparing results,” Tapan further said.
He made the remarks at a view exchange meeting with leaders of Economic Reporters’ Forum of Bangladesh (ERAB) at his office in the city on Sunday.
ERAB general secretary Akhtaruzzaman, organizing secretary Murad Hussain and executive member Abdul Hai Tuhin, among others, were present on the occasion.
Tapan said, “There will be no existence of JSC-JDC examination according to the new curriculum. It will be very difficult for the education boards to organize the two examinations after completing the SSC and HSC examinations. Therefore, the Boards have recommended not taking JSC-JDC examinations this year as well.”
“In a recent meeting with the education ministry, we have shared our views regarding the examination”, he said adding, “However, if the government decides to take the JSC-JDC examination, we will take necessary steps to conduct it properly.”
