ammilito Parishad, led by Faruque Hassan, bagged most of the post of directors in the biennial election of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) for the 2021-2023 period.
With this clean sweep, the newly directors-elect are going to pick Faruque Hassan as their new president on April 16 by exercising votes.
The results of the BGMEA polls were announced early hours of today where the Sammilito Parishad won in the posts of 24 directors out of the total 35. On the other hand, the Forum Panel, led by ABM Shamsuddin, fetched 11 posts of directors.
The winners of Sammilito Parishad panel led by Faruque Hassan will run the BGMEA for the next two years.
Earlier on Sunday, the election was held from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm at Hotel Radisson Blu in Dhaka and from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at regional office of BGMEA in Chattogram.
The BGMEA polls witnessed a voters’ turnout of 86 percent as some 1,996 RMG factory owners exercised their voting rights.
