All achievments under AL leadership

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said the all achievements of Bangalees came under the leadership of Awami League.

“In fact, the two names- independence of Bangladesh and Awami League- are directly linked. Our struggle for the independence, the Liberation War and achieving the independence are under the leadership of Awami League,” he said.

The minister stated these while addressing a programme marking the AL’s 72nd anniversary at the meeting room of his ministry at Secretariat in the capital on Thursday.

Earlier, Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, uncovered a music video CD made by Bangladesh Hawaiian Guitar Shilpi Parishad (BHGSP) marking the golden jubilee of the country’s independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

BHGSP executive president and eminent guitarist Md Hasanur Rahman Bacchu and poet and researcher Aminur Rahman, among others, also addressed the inaugural function.

Hasan said the then drawing room-based politics reached to common people after the formation of Bangladesh Awami League on June 23 in 1949. At first, it was Awami Muslim League but later Awami League emerged as a non-communal party by deleting the word ‘Muslim’.

He said there was no constitution of Pakistan until the Awami League formed the central government in 1956. The first constitution was drafted under the leadership of Nikhil Pakistan Awami League President Shahid Suhrawardy, he added.
