Porimoni get permanent bail

The court has granted permanent bail to Porimoni, a popular Bengali film actress, in a case under the Narcotics Control Act. Porimoni’s lawyer applied for her permanent bail in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder on Sunday (October 10th) after her bail expired. Following the hearing, the judge granted her permanent bail on a bond of Tk. 5,000.

Porimoni’s lawyer Nilanjana Rifat Sauravi confirmed the information, saying, “We are hearing a permanent bail petition. The state has opposed. However, after hearing both the parties, the judge granted bail.

Earlier, the popular actress Porimoni had applied for permanent bail in a case under the Narcotics Control Act. Her bail was heard in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder.

Porimoni appeared in court around 1.30 pm. Public Prosecutor Abdullah Abu expressed his displeasure and dissatisfaction in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court over the fact that Porimoni came to the court three and a half hours after the scheduled time.

The actress was arrested on August 4 after the Rapid Action Battalion conducted a raid at her home in Dhaka’s Banani. The following day she was accused in the narcotics case filed at Banani police station.

She was released from jail on September 1 after nearly a month of her arrest.

Porimoni get permanent bail

On October 4, the investigators filed the chargesheet in the case naming Pori Moni and two others— Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Pori Moni on August 4 from her Banani flat in Dhaka and seized huge amounts of foreign liquors and different drugs from there.

RAB brought drugs-related charges against Pori Moni and her aide Dipu in the case filed with Banani police station on August 6.

CID Inspector Kazi Mostafa Kamal, who is the investigating officer (IO) in the drugs case, submitted the chargesheet to a Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

After that, Porimooani was remanded for 7 days in 3 phases. She was granted remand for 4 days in the first phase, 2 days in the second phase on 10 August and 1 day in the 3rd phase on 19 August.

On August 31, Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge KM Emrul Kayes granted Pori Moni bail in the case and she was finally released from jail the next day.
