Meeting to fix new bus fare this afternoon

A meeting is scheduled this afternoon regarding the fare adjustment after the fuel prices were hiked on Friday.

Transport owners, Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) delegates and labour leaders will join the meeting which is expected to be held at 5pm at the office of Bangladesh Road Transport and Bridges Authority (BRTA) in the capital’s Banani area.

BRTA chairman Noor Mohammed will also be present at the meeting.

“The meeting will discuss the issue of fixing new bus fares. We want, the extended fare to be fixed in line with the new fuel price in today’s meeting,” said Bangladesh Road Transport Owners’ Association secretary general Khandaker Enayet Ullah.

The government has increased prices of diesel by Tk34 per litre, octane by Tk46 and kerosene by Tk34 effective from 12am Saturday.
