The country benefits from objective journalism: Information Minister

Congratulating Maria Resa of the Philippines and Dmitry Muratov of Russia, two journalists who won the Nobel Peace Prize this year, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hassan Mahmoud said, “The country, society and the state benefit when a journalist works objectively without fear.”

He made the remarks while addressing a function as the chief guest at the handover ceremony of car keys gifted to Brahmanbaria Press Club at Dhaka Club in the capital on Sunday evening.

Dr. Hassan told reporters that two journalists had won the Nobel Peace Prize eighty six years later. This is why they deserve everyone’s congratulations and the example they have set for overcoming all fears, greed and lust will inspire journalists all over the world.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud thinks that journalists have a lot of power. They can highlight the unspoken issues of the society, the unspoken pain of the people. Marginal journalists are able to play a special role in this. The country, society and the state benefit from this work of journalists.

Under the presided of member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ebadul Karim , State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Md. Murad Hasan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. A. M. Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury spoke as the special guest on the occasion.
