Covid claims 48 lives, infects 1,327 more in 24 hours

Bangladesh logged another 1,327 Covid-19 cases and 48 deaths in 24 hours ending Saturday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 26,880 and infections to 15,28,542 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 7.03 per cent.

Among the deceased, 22 are male and 26 are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

As many as 18,869 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 7.03 percent. The latest figures put the recovery rate at 96.51 percent and the mortality rate at 1.76 percent.

In the past 24 hours, 3,168 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 14,75,235.

Dhaka accounted for the most daily deaths and new cases among the eight divisions, logging 22 fatalities and 790 infections. Chattogram tallied 12 deaths and 250 cases.
