Sammilita Sangskritik Jote accords reception to SAFF women champions

Cultural organisation Sammilita Sangskritik Jote accorded a reception to Bangladesh women’s football team, who won the SAFF Championship in Nepal, at Central Shaheed Minar in the capital on Monday.

Renowned cultural activists, namely Ramendu Majumdar, Ataur Rahman, Mamunur Rashid, Asaduzzaman Noor, Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu, Mafidul Haque, M Hamid, Sara Zaker, Minu Haque, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Bishwajit Roy and others, received the members of the women’s football team and Bangladesh Football Federation officials and spoke at the programme, Report Newage

After arriving at the venue, the footballers paid tribute to Language Movement martyrs.

Besides, Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artistes Timir Nandi and Shahin Samad lead the artistes of the SJJ in singing the national anthem, dancer Warda Rihab and her troupe entertained the audience staging dance recitals and Bangladesh Abritti Somonnoy Parishad staged a recitation production.

Sammilita Sangskritik Jote president Ghulam Quddus delivered the welcome speech at the event.

Bangladesh Football Federation women’s wing chairman and a FIFA council member Mahfuza Akter Kiron, Bangladesh women’s football team captain Sabina Khatun, Bangladesh women’s team coach Golam Rabbani Choton, the BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag were also present at the venue.

The SJJ and IFIC Bank Limited handed over a cheque of Tk 10 lakh to Bangladesh women’s football team’s captain Sabina Khatun and coach Golam Rabbani Choton.

‘By winning the SAFF Championship in Nepal, Bangladesh women’s football has also scored a victory against those who want to keep women confined inside of their homes,’ said Ghulam Quddus.

‘The Bangladesh women’s football team has united the people of the country by winning the SAFF Championship title,’ said Sara Zaker.

‘I thank the SSJ for according this reception to the girls. I hope that Bangladesh women’s football team will bring more glory to the country,’ said Golam Rabbani Choton.

‘All of us feel happy and honoured to attend this programme. The love we have been receiving from the people is indeed our greatest achievement,’ said Sabina Khatun.

‘Winning the SAFF Championship was not a walk in the park. I hope that the Bangladesh women’s football team will continue their winning momentum at the international stage,’ said Ramendu Majumdar.
