Bangladesh is the presidential candidate in the 2026 UN session

Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said, Bangladesh has become the presidential candidate for the 2026 UN General Assembly.

He made the remarks while addressing a discussion on the occasion of United Nations Day at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Sunday. Foreign Minister Momen said, “We are working towards this goal.”

He said at the event organized by ‘Dhakabashi’ that Bangladesh is facing the Rohingya crisis. But the Rohingya crisis hangs over the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. Especially China and Russia. Nevertheless, we hope that this crisis will be resolved.

He said the contribution of the United Nations could not be denied in any way. The United Nations has made a significant contribution to social development. As a special guest on the occasion, Kamrul Islam MP said that Hindus and Muslims of the region have been living together for thousands of years. But now there is a deep conspiracy to destroy communal harmony.
