Two Rohingya robbers killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

Two suspected robbers were killed in a gunfight with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a hilly region adjacent to
the Rohingya camp in Nhilla union under Teknaf upazila of the district early this morning.

The deceased were identified as Kefayet Ullah and Qurban Ali, residents of Nhilla Rohingya camp.

Both Kefayet and Qurban were robbers and drug peddlers, claimed RAB, adding that the two were accused in multiple arms and drugs cases.

RAB also recovered 20,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets and arms and ammunition from the spot.

“A Rab team raided the hills this morning after receiving information that a group of Rohingya robbers and drug traffickers were positioning there.
Sensing Rab presence, drug traffickers and the criminals started firing. Rab retaliated in defence,” Additional Police Superintendent (Law and Media) Md Abu Salam Chowdhury of Cox’s Bazar (RAB) 15 said.

Later, the elite force recovered the bodies of Kefayet and Qurban from the spot and sent them to the morgue of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
