Bangladesh High Commission in London has observed the Armed Forces Day by paying homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the martyrs of the liberation war.
The Bangabandhu Corner of the High Commission was decorated with informative and illustrated banners on the occasion. Various activities of the armed forces were also highlighted, says a press release issued on 21 November.
Bangladesh high commissioner Saida Muna Tasneem and defense adviser Brigadier General Mohammad Mahbubur Rashid were among diplomats, officials and staff present.
“Along with protecting our country, our Armed Forces has secured a place in the first row of the UN peacekeeping forces. Also, it has made us proud globally by playing a special role in the international arena,” said Saida Muna Tasneem.
Armed Forces Day is observed on 21 November every year. On this day, in 1971 the army, navy and air forces of Bangladesh became fully operational and launched an all-out attack on the Pakistani occupational forces.
