Jatiya Party Secretary General Ziauddin Bablu no more

Jatiya Party general secretary, former minister and  former GS of DAKSU Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu has died.

He died at 9.12 am on Saturday at the ICU of Bangladesh Specialised Hospital at Shyamoli in the city. JaPa Chairman GM Quader’s Press Secretary Khondaker Delowar Jalali confirmed the news.

“Doctors have declared him clinically dead,” he said. The family and the party have not officially announced that his body is still in the hospital. Senior leaders of the Jatiya Party will sit in the meeting shortly. Then they will decide on janaza and burial. ‘

He was admitted to Labaid Specialised Hospital with Covid-19. Later, he was shifted to Bangladesh Specialised Hospital as his health condition deteriorated.

Bablu served as deputy education minister during the rule of former military ruler Hussein Mohammad Ershad, has twice served as secretary general of the Jatiya Party.

Bablu recently took part in electioneering in favour of the JaPa candidate in the Sylhet-3 by-election held on September 4.  He fell ill after his return to Dhaka from Sylhet and then took the Covid test.

His younger brother also died of Covid-19.
