We will bring cyber criminals under the law: Law Minister

Cyber criminals involved in spreading propaganda against Bangabandhu’s family, government, judiciary and the country through social media abroad will be brought under the law. We are thinking about this.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque said this in response to a question from reporters at the ‘Meet the Reporters’ event organized by Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) on Sunday (October 10th).

Replying to a question on how to bring cyber criminals abroad under the law, the law minister said, “Even if the crime is committed outside Bangladesh, they will be considered to have committed crime in Bangladesh.” It includes the Digital Security Act. We can certainly take action in this too. And we will be able to bring them under the law in the countries where they are. We are thinking of everything, to bring them under the law.

DRU President Murasalin Nomani presided over the function while General Secretary Moshiur Rahman Khan was present on the occasion.

Nore that,Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said at a reception hosted by the United States Awami League in New York on September 24, “Some people stay abroad and criticize the country and tarnish its image.” We have worked hard to elevate the country to a dignified position. Now their goal is to tarnish the image of the country. ’

On the occasion, the Prime Minister further said, “Some people are calling the Awami League government illegal. My question is, how do they get a chance to pronounce these words! They have got a chance to say this because we have built Bangladesh as a ‘Digital Bangladesh’. Critics of the government have taken large sums of money from the BNP and Jamaat. If they are ethical and have a standard, then why do they use our digital systems? ‘
