Joj Miah sends legal notice for compensation
Md Jalal alias Joj Miah, who was wrongly implicated and subsequently languished in jail for a couple of years in a case lodged over August 21 grenade attack on Awami League rally in Bagabandhu Avenue, today sent legal notices to 11 people for giving him Taka 10 crore in compensation.
Supreme Court lawyers Mohammad Humayun Kabir and Mohammad Kawser sent the notices by post on behalf of Jalal.
The 11 people, who were served with the notice, include Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police (IGP), former BNP State Minister for Home Affairs Md Lutfozzaman Babar, then IGP Khoda Bokhsh Chowdhury, assistant superintendent of police Abdur Rashid and Munshi Atikur Rahman.
It was stated in the notice that Jalal was wrongfully arrested and kept behind bars for the crimes that he had no connection whatsoever. Taka 10 crore in compensation was sought for the ordeals he suffered and 15 days time was given to act according to the notice.
