Bird strikes damage two aircrafts at Dhaka airport
Engineering team from Dubai left for Dhaka to repair the aircrafts
Two aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Fly Dubai on Saturday were damaged by bird strikes at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Tahera Khondoker, general manager of Biman Bangladesh Airlines said a bird entered the landing gear of the Biman’s Thailand-bound flight during takeoff. As a result, the flight was cancelled and taken for repairs. The passengers were sent to Bangkok on another flight.
Another Boeing 737 aircraft of Fly Dubai also faced a similar incident. The bird strike damaged the aircraft’s engine and landing gear. There were 185 passengers on that flight. The flight was later cancelled and brought to the apron. The passengers were taken to a hotel. An official of the airline informed that the engineering team from Dubai left for Dhaka to repair the aircrafts.
