Bumper Jute production in Panchagarh
Farmers and Department Agriculture Extension (DAE) are expecting bumper jute production in the district this year as the weather condition is favorable for cultivation of jute.
DAE has also given modern technology training to the farmers for boosting jute production. It has also supplied high quality jute seeds, fertilizers among the farmers at a cost of free.
Department of Agriculture extension office sources said farmers cultivated jute on 8,285 hectares of land in the district with the production target of 19,500 metric tonnes of jute.
Farmer Sunil Kumar said that jute cultivation is increasing in the district as farmers are getting fair prices for jute.
Deputy director of DAE Md Mizanur Rahman said this district has immense prospects to achieve self-reliance in jute production as the soil of the area is suitable for growing one of the leading export items.
