News Now Bangla’s Farhana Nila received the SRS-DBM Media Fellowship Award

Farhana Haque Nila, senior reporter of News Now Bangla received SRS-DBM Media Fellowship Award.

Fellows were presented with crests and certificates in a ceremony at the office of  Safety and Rights Society (SRS) at Mohammadpur in the capital on Wednesday.

Professor of Development Studies Department of Dhaka University Dr. Kazi Maruful Islam , Executive Director of Safety and Rights Society (SRS) Sekender Ali Meena, Samsti Director and Senior News Editor of Channel I Mir Masroor Zaman, Senior Program Manager of The Asia Foundation Md Zakaria was present at the event.

Apart from Farhana Haque Nila, Sharful Alam of ATN Bangla, Rashedul Haque of 71 TV, Abu Md Faizul Arefin, newsroom editor of Channel I Online, Md Jasim Uddin of Prothom Alo newspaper and Zahidur Rahman of Samakal newspaper also received the fellowship.

As an active member of the Democratic Budget Movement, Director of the group and senior news editor of Channel I Mir Masroor Zaman said,this fellowship has been organized to encourage SRS and DBM investigative reporting and development journalism in collaboration with The Asia Foundation.

Md. Zakaria, senior program manager of The Asia Foundation said in the event that,since 1954, Asia Foundation has always been working for the development of the people. He said that he wants to do more work from all sides to increase public awareness.

Professor of Development Studies Department of Dhaka University Dr. Kazi Maruful Islam said that the mass media workers belonging to the fellowship will be able to present more information about the budget to everyone through their reporting. At this time, he urged the fellows to report not only during the budget period, but also ro report about how much the allocated money can be implemented or utilized by the sector after the budget.

At that time Editor of News Now Bangla Shamima Dola congratulated her colleague Farhana Haque  Nila on her success. She also congratulated other fellows. She also asked about better reporting through their own reporting.

Executive Director of Safety and Rights Society (SRS) Sekender Ali Meena said that this event will be held on a larger scale in the future.
