BNP Leaders want a strict movement program
On the second day of the three-day meeting of the BNP executive committee, the joint secretary general, organizational secretary, editor and co-editors said that Begum Khaleda Zia should be released through a strict movement in the streets and a non-partisan government should be formed and an acceptable election commission should be formed.
The leaders of the editorial board said in almost the same voice that it would be a big mistake to go for any other election under the present Awami League government. Elections cannot be held under this government. No temptation of the government can be given. Besides, the party will have to prepare for the national parliamentary elections from now on.
In the afternoon, the meeting held at the chairperson’s office in Gulshan was virtually presided over by the acting chairman of the party Tarique Rahman. BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Nazrul Islam Khan, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and Begum Selima Rahman were present on the stage. The high command of the party listens to the opinions and suggestions of the leaders.
The second day’s meeting was attended by 95 people including the party’s joint secretary general, organizational secretary and assistant secretary.
The three-day meeting will end on Thursday with a meeting with the leaders of various organs and allied organizations of the BNP. Then the decision will be taken in the meeting of the standing committee.
