Newly appointed Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan dies of COVID

Newly appointed Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has died of coronavirus. He breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital at 6:15 am on Friday.
Supreme Court spokesperson Mohammad Saifur Rahman confirmed the matter.
He said Justice Nazmul Ahasan was admitted to BSMMU after being diagnosed with Covid-19. He died this morning while undergoing treatment there.
The swearing-in ceremony of the four newly appointed judges of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court was held last month. Apart from Nazmul Ahasan, three other judges were sworn in on the same day. Nazmul Ahasan could not take an oath that day as he was infected with COVID.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique has expressed deep grief over the death of Nazmul Ahasan. In his condolence message, he expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and wished forgiveness to the departed soul.
Earlier on January 9, four High Court judges were elevated to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. Justice Ahasan could not take the oath as he was tested positive for Coronavirus.
Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique expressed deep shock at the demise of Justice Ahasan.
