Steps to be taken for destructive acts in the name of strike: Asaduzzaman Kamal

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said the security forces or law enforces will
play their roles if anyone does destructive activities in the name of strike (Hartal) in the country.

Mentioning that strike is a political exercise, he said: “Political parties can hold such programmes. But our point is
that in the name of strike, if someone obstructs the road, if someone vandalizes, if someone does something destructive, then the security forces must play their roles to this end,” he said.

The minister was talking to the reporters after inaugurating the “Police Liberation War Museum, Chattogram” at Dampara here.

About the nationwide hartal called by Bam Gonotantrik Jote (Left Democratic Alliance), he hoped that all political
parties will show tolerance in this regard so that people will not suffer for their activities.

If anyone does destructive activities through illogical political progtrammes and want to make the situation unstable
with ill motives then these activities will be criticized by the people and distance will be created between those
political parties and the people, he added.

Referring to the current downtrend of the prices of daily commodities, Kamal said, “One thing to keep in mind is that oil prices have gone up all over the world, not just in Bangladesh.”

Transportation costs for the Russia-Ukraine war have doubled or tripled, and freight rates have increased manifold, he said, adding that many things of Bangladesh including oil are import-dependent.

Price hike is not uncommon as it has risen sharply in the international market and Bangladesh also faced the impact of it, he said.

He also lauded the pragmatic steps of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led government taken to offset the price hike situation.

Members of Parliament Nazrul Islam, Mustafizur Rahaman Chowdhury and Prof Dr Abu Reza Mohammad Nezamuddin Nadwi, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and Acting President of Mahanagar Awami League (Chattogram) Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury were also present, among
Others. on the occasion.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Saleh Mohammed Tanvir presided over the function.
