Padma Bridge built braving many challenges: Cabinet secy

Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam today said the much-anticipated Padma Bridge has been built braving many challenges.

“Pamda Bridge will be opened for vehicular movement by the last week of June,” he told a view-exchange meeting on “Role of public representatives and other stakeholders in resisting extremism” at Shariatpur Police Lines auditorium here.

Anwarul Islam said it has been possible to implement the mega project successfully after facing many challenges because of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s earnest efforts and strong supervision.

Home Ministry Public Security Division Senior Secretary Md Akhter Hossain, Inspector General of Police Dr Benazir Ahmed, RAB Director General Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner (acting) Md Helal Mahmud Sharif, Dhaka Range DIG Habibur Rahman, Shariatpur Police Super SM Ashrafuzzaman addressed it, among others.

Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner Md Parvez Hasan chaired it while CTTC Chief (Additional Commissioner) Md Asaduzzaman gave the welcome address.

The cabinet secretary said people living on Padma riverbank in Shariatpur district extended highest level of cooperation in implementing one of biggest projects of the government.

Shariatpur district AL President Sabedur Rahman Khoka Shikder, Jajira upazila Parishad chairman Mubarak Ali Shikder and Naria Government College Principal Maksuda Khatun were present, among others.
