4 killed in Gazipur train accident

At least four people were killed and eight others injured when a train hit a bus on an unauthorized railway level crossing at Sripur of Gazipur district.

One of the deceased was identified as Rahima Khatun Priya, 22, a worker of Zaman Fashion Wears Ltd and wife of Julhas Mia of Baliapara village in the Upazila. 

Sripur railway station master Harun-ur-Rashid confirmed the news.

He said Netrakona-bound ‘Balaka Express’ train coming from Dhaka hit the bus carrying RMG workers on Maijhpara railway level crossing around 7:15 am on Sunday, leaving one dead on the spot and eleven injured.

Among the injured, three died on the way to the hospital.

Gazipur deputy commissioner Anisur Rahman visited the spot. 

A three-member probe body, headed by an additional district magistrate, has been formed to look into the accident.
