Govt issues notification over rescheduling office time
The Public Administration Ministry today issued a gazette notification over rescheduling the working hours at all government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous offices from 8am to 3pm, which will come into effect from Wednesday.
“The government fixed office time of all government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous offices across the country from 8am to 3pm from Sunday to Thursday until further notice from August 24,” read the notification.
Friday and Saturday will remain as weekly holiday, it added.
According to the notification, the emergency services will remain out of the purview of the new office hours while concerned ministries will reschedule the academic hours of educational institutions.
The working hours of banks, insurances and other financial institutions, however, will be from 9am to 4pm while the Bangladesh Bank will take necessary steps in this regard, it read.
Earlier in the morning, the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina decided to reschedule the office time of government and autonomous offices from 8am to 3pm and banking hours from 9am to 4pm from Wednesday aimed at reducing electricity consumption and easing traffic congestion.
It also decided to declare a two-day holiday for the educational institutions.
