BNP discusses next polls, politics with Swedish, Norwegian envoys
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has sat with the Swedish and Norwegian ambassadors to Bangladesh, Alexandra Berg von Linde and Espen Rikter-Svendsen, in a closed-door meeting.
The event took place at the party chief’s Gulshan office for an hour on Tuesday afternoon, confirmed BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.
The agenda was on Bangladesh’s politics, next general election and the overall situation including human rights, democracy, security and law and order, he said.
However, he claimed to be unaware of what exactly was discussed there.
“But all I can say is that they talked about politics in Bangladesh and things related to it,” he told reporters.
Khasru went on to say that parliamentary election is such an important matter now and it has been a major focus at home and abroad.
“There has been concern over fair polls in Bangladesh,” he said.
Sources within the party told thereport.live that Fakhrul complained of alleged attack and harassment on party colleagues centering the ongoing rallies.
The two ambassadors sought BNP’s take on the next election, the added.
