No dialogue with BNP on polls-time government

Law Minister Anisul Huq

Law Minister Anisul Huq today 9th July ruled out the possibility of holding dialogue with BNP on the polls-time government. He said that there is no necessity for holding dialogue on any unreal demand.

The Minster said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has categorically said no dialogue will take place. Election is the only solution and that is why, the election will be held.”

While replying to queries from journalists at the inauguration of the four-month-long training programme for the assistant judges at the Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) in Dhaka, he said this.

He added that the law minister said that the Election Commission’s power has not been curtailed by bringing an amendment to the Representation of People’s Order (RPO), rather the people’s right to vote has been protected through this amendment. If the polling of the entire constituency is stopped for a violence or untoward incident in one or few polling centres, it will not be democratic, but will be an interference to the people’s right to voting and therefore, the RPO has been amended.

Anisul Huq also mentioned that “The government has not written any letter to quickly dispose of the pending cases against the BNP leaders. The judiciary is independent. We have not written such a letter. If they can show such a letter, arguments will take place on it.”

JATI Director General Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana presided over the event.  Law Secretary Md Golam Sarwar spoke too.
