“Only Peace Conference” of IWPG Global 3 Region with six countries held
The Global Region 3 of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) successfully held the “Only Peace Conference” online on June 26th with six countries: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and South Korea.
Under the theme: “The Answer for the Global Peace DPCW & Peaceful Unification,” “Draw Peaceful World through DPCW Practice,” the conference emphasized continuous exchange and cooperation through international law and support activities to end conflicts and wars around the world.
Heo Eun-joo, Regional Director of the Global Region 3 said, “IWPG. For that precious value of peace, IWPG has been working tirelessly with the peace family for the past decade and will urge women around the world until the end of the war through DPCW.”
Subsequently, it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with “People who practice unification” (Chairman Cho Bo-jung) to realize world peace. In response, the two organizations agreed to cooperate with each other on various projects for realizing peace, such as realistic peace settlement efforts, support and urge for “DPCW,” and the spread of peace culture.
Under the theme of “Awareness of the Importance of Declaring a Great Vision for Peaceful Unification,” Chairman Cho Bo-jung said, “We need to realize that the Korean Dream, a beautiful country that truly loves peace and freedom without war, is a shortcut to Korea’s great prosperity.” He also mentioned that we need to face the urgent need for the perception that the whole world is directly connected to peace and the global village should be one family and this great dream should be measured as a reality.
Gazhala Khan, the Mission Head at Federation of International Gender and Human Rights Pakistan, said, “Through the legislation of an international peace law, we can create a legal instrument that guides and protects us in times of conflict.”
Noor-Un-Nahar Weely, a senior reporter for Masranga Television pointed out , “ We need to work hard and try finding meaningful ways to collaborate to bring the sustainable solutions,” under the theme : “Why DPCW is necessary in Bangladesh and the Role of Citizens.”
At the event, Sheela Kakde, Patron and the former President of AIWC(All Indian Woemn’s Conference), said, Under the theme: “Why DPCW is essential in India and the role of citizens,” “I will support to urge DPCW together with women in India.”
Finally, Velayudan Jayachithra, Social and women’s rights activist said, “Women and Media Collective, “Article 9 of DPCW shows how promoting Peaceful coexistence amongst religious and ethnic groups is very important.”
At the end of the event, we introduced the “Social Meida DPCW Campaign,” and vowed to upload its posting for signature of DPCW and link for DPCW’s introduction and legislation to the United Nations. After that, all attendants spent a meaningful time watching a video of the Peace Summit which will be held in September, South Korea.
Meanwhile, IWPG is an international Women’s Peace Group, an NGO registered both in UN DCG and UN ECOSOC and is working actively for various peace activities such as International Women Peace Network, Spreading Peace culture, etc and uniting with UN women organizations together for urging the legislation of DPCW.
